The 1st Junior-Senior Gathering @ Putt-Putt Golf & Games Senayan

Yes, here it comes, a new fresh event from STUNICA’s Departement of Internal Affairs. Last 25th April 2009, held in Putt-Putt Golf & Games, was the 1st Junior-Senior Gathering, also called JSG in short! The name of this event directly shows its purpose, and the concept of this Junior Senior Gathering, is simply… FUN! We make FUN games, we have FUN MCs, we make participants feel FUN, and we wanna show the participants, that knowing their seniors and their juniors can be done in a FUN way!!!
So what FUN things happened on that day?
It was very sunny and was very hot in Senayan. The roads are unexpectedly crowded because of another event called INACRAFT, but that will not stop what we, the committee of JSG, have prepared for the participants! We came earlier, and got the reception desk ready, the sitting arrangements, the food, the drinks, and also, the fan.
Yes true it was hot, but JSG will be done under the roofs of Putt-Putt hut (it’s a hut full of seats and foods, and soon will be full of FUN!), so the sun will not stop us from again, preparing the events!
Soon enough, participants came, it was very few at first, but in the midst of these participants, there are at least 1 participant from batch 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, and 2002. From 14.00-14.45 is the registration time! What is to be registered? Each participant will come and we will take their picture, their name, their phone number, and their email address! We also give them a name tag, and also tell them the group they will be in. Once they are all seated, at 14.45, we started our JSG! From here, let the FUN begin!
It was the MCs, Ivana and Intan, both from 2008, who opened the JSG, and then continued with a very short speech from the Event Head of JSG, Kevin, and the Head of STUNICA, Ariel! Without further ado, after these two short speeches, is the first game, which is, Ice-Breaking game! So, what is the ice-breaking game in this JSG? Simple, it is… ICE BREAKING (literally)! So participants (now in groups) must take one ice, and break them! And inside the ice, there is the next clue which they must complete in order to proceed together to the next game. After each break the ice, they read out the clue, it said “Make out the name of your group, by combining all your group members’ name or nickname! Remember, the name must make sense! Call out the groups’ name together to tell the MCs that you are done!” So, the results were…
Group A – Meutia ’08, Albert ’08, Ariel ’07, Hengky ’05 à HAMA
Group B – Isaac ‘07, Krisna ‘07, Chrysa ’07, Jason ’06 à CHRONIK
Group C – Irma ’08, Adiba ’08, Riza ’07, Wishnu ’02 à We Are Indonesian Doctors
Group D – Tissy ’08, Sara ’08, Hannah ’07 à HISS
Group E – Carla ’08, Syifa ’07, Arie ’06 à LARIS
Now, with the group names ready, all of them succeed and proceed to the second game! Group D and group E was then combined together since they are very few in numbers, giving them a new name, HISS LARIS! Now as we told them before, the faster they are in making the names, the better privilege they will have. The first one to finish was HAMA, followed by HISS LARIS, then CHRONIK, and then We Are Indonesian Doctors (WAID in short). The second game is known as the ‘Silent Game’! In this game, each of the group members must line up in 2 lines, one line as the performer and the other as the answer. HAMA, as the first group, has the privilege to choose one category out of 6 categories (Things, Things 2, Food, Occupation, Places). The performer will then be given 5 words of one category they choose, and the answer must obviously answer the word they are performing, and later after 5 words, the performers will switch places with the answer. However, before they start, they will need to bet the time they need to finish this, basically the group with the lowest bet will start and perform first with the category chosen by HAMA in this case. The lower their time, the more points they will obtain for each word they can successfully answer. Most of the groups chose 3 minutes as their limiting time, but those that chose 2 minutes or 1 minute surely start first. Need to be noted here that 1 minute will give the teams the most points! The game was so intense, and most groups can answer what they are performing, even though it was very hard to be performed, such as ironing, needle, hotel, mall, and also, RESTROOM! Hopefully the video soon can be uploaded ^^. The groups then obtain their points, while watching other groups, they can enjoy the food!
After the silent game, is the resting period, this is the time where they can enjoy their food while they talk to their seniors or their juniors. The food that was prepared was actually light snacks, since this is a coffee break period, so it’s pisang goring, lemper, and the others. There are also free flow of coffee and tea on the bar. What is more FUN is that, at this period, there are a lot of newcomers! Especially from 2008 and also 2003! Now that around 8 of 2003 are in the house, we can have much more FUN! During this time too, the committee is preparing for the next game!
The resting period lasts for around 30 minutes, and the MC now opens the curtain to our third game called, the Rapid Fire Game! Basically here they can chase their groups’ points, as for each question, there are points. The questions too, are of different difficulty, and of different categories, such as movies, places, and people, obviously, the harder the question, then the more points it will reward. The questions will come in the form of slideshow, that the picture is blurred, cut, or zoomed in and with time, the picture will be clearer. The groups must race to answer each of these questions and win the grand prize. And far much better than expected, everyone was enthusiastic in the quiz and so many shouts were there to call out the answers. The FUN thing about this is that the harder the question is; the more is the question closer to us. As an example, for places, we have places inside our own campus, while the easier questions are Eiffel Tower. Another example is for people, the easier question will be about artists such as Daniel Radcliff, and the harder questions are… The International FMUI Students themselves! We placed Irma, Hengky and Ivana’s picture into it, and funnily some forgot where we took that picture. Of course, during the registration time!
The most points are obtained by the WAID group, with 100++ more points, and so… They won the grand prize! The JSG CUP! Directly from Dr. Dewi, this is a ‘piala bergilir’ so that it can be used again on the next JSG (which is November this year).
The sky has turned darker, it has reached 17.00 and still, we can’t stop the FUN! The main event has ended, but now, it’s for the second round! The Putt-Putt golf competition! In this competition, each group is of 4 participants, Dwi from 2008 is in charge of this competition, and it went out happily with so many people participating! The numbers of people too, have exploded to twice of the original number which was around 20, into around 46 people! Some went home, and some joined the competition! Overall, it was very FUN surely, and the participation increased in number in the middle of the event, which is again, increasing the FUN! Will the FUN end here for those that couldn’t come? Of course not! We are also getting ready for the 2nd JSG which is supposed to come November, together with our new juniors from batch 10! Don’t forget to apply when we post out the announcement to you guys! Thanks a lot for coming to the first JSG and making that a great success! We really wish your coming to the second JSG! Of course, don’t lose contact with your juniors or seniors, everyone! Thank you to the whole JSG committee too, I wanna post out all your names here but I’d suggest those who are reading this to also open our JSG album in STUNICA facebook, and see the committee as well as the participants. Thanks Guys, Great Jooob ^^!!
